Matthew S. Jaime - President
American Loan Corporation, CEO/PresidentMr. Jaime is the founder, CEO and President of American Loan Corporation, a real estate finance company founded in 1992. American Loan Corporation has successfully financed over $200 million in home purchases in Southern California. His company has grown completely from referrals, based on the company premise that education can increase the buying potential of communities that are too often overlooked.
Born and raised in Watsonville, California, Mr. Jaime is a graduate of USC.
Maribel Marín - Past-President
211 LA County, Executive DirectorActing as the Executive Director since April 2002, Ms. Marín has transformed 211 LA County, formerly known as INFO LINE of Los Angeles, into a performance driven, customer service oriented agency. With a staff of 105 and an annual budget of $7.5 million, the agency is the largest social service information and referral service in the nation, helping over 480,000 individuals and families in Los Angeles County each year. In the summer of 2005 the agency successfully implemented the 211 dialing code in Los Angeles County, increasing the agency's call handling capacity by over 45%.
Ms. Marín is President of the California Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (CAIRS) board, through which she serves on the leadership team that is guiding the statewide 2-1-1 planning and implementation efforts. She is also the Chair of the Southern California 211 Collaborative.
In 2002 Ms. Marín led the Redistricting Commission for the Los Angeles Board of Education, after having served as a Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works between 1997 and 2001.
Ms. Marín brings more than ten years of policy and management experience in the public and nonprofit sector to the direction of Avance Schools as the Board President. She is a graduate of UC – Berkeley and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Maria Lou Calanché - Treasurer
New Urban Networks, PrincipalMs. Calanché is the principal consultant and owner of New Urban Networks Consulting, and an adjunct professor of political science at East Los Angeles Community College. Her consulting work has focused on urban issues including land use consultation, youth delinquency, school safety, and parent education. The scope of her work includes program development, implementation design, and evaluation in order to insure holistic approaches to client service delivery programs.
Ms. Calanché's graduate work in Public Administration at USC has focused on citizen and stakeholder participation in pubic programs and processes. Her goal is to design and implement public mechanisms to encourage and institutionalize citizen participation in policy and service delivery design, both in government and in community organizations. She is completing her dissertation on evaluating the impact of citizen participation, and the decentralization of local land use decision-making in the City of Los Angeles.
Claudia Banegas - Secretary
Bancomer Construction & Development, Inc., OwnerMs. Banegas is a successful sales professional with over 15 years experience in the real estate industry. Proven ability to successfully sell within competitive markets. Solid foundation in contract negotiations, marketing, and presentations. Ms. Banegas received her undergraduate from University of California, Los Angeles in History. Other accomplishments include International Presidents Elite-Top Sales Associate, Member of Who’s Who, and Member of National Association of Realtors.
Clementina Chacón
Faith United Presbyterian Church/Iglesia de la Comunidad, AdministratorClementina Chacón has been in the ministerial field for nine years serving in different capacities of ministry. She has served as Senior Pastor at the Loveland Bilingual Christian Center in Loveland, Colorado, and Administrative Pastor at Templo Betel in Fort Collins, Colorado. Ms. Chacón currently serves as Church Administrator at Faith United Presbyterian Church/Iglesia de la Comunidad in Highland Park, California, where the scope of her work includes overall business management, communications, clerical, and administration of the church.
Ms. Chacón is currently completing her Masters of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and joins the Avance Executive Board as a representative of Faith United Presbyterian Church/Iglesia de la Comunidad, the school’s facilities partner.
Clifford Moseley
Los Angeles International Charter High School, Executive DirectorMr. Moseley is executive director of Los Angeles International Charter High School, with experience in charter and traditional public schools. He served as a staff member for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, and has been a city council candidate. Mr. Moseley possesses extensive worldwide travel experience, including Eastern Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia. Through his dedication and expertise, he has helped students develop academically at all the schools he has taught, with a focus on achieving grade-level proficiencies in Math and Reading Language Arts. Mr. Moseley received his undergraduate from University of California, Los Angeles in Political Science, and his teaching credential from California State University Los Angeles.
Tony Gourdine
Aflac, Southern California Representative and Independent ContractorMr. Gourdine has worked in the real estate business since 1992 when he obtained his professional license. In 1998 he received his certification as a contract advisor for the National Football League Player Association (NFLPA) where he successfully represented 10 players for the NFL, CFL, and AFL. With over 10 years of coaching experience between Franklin H.S. in Highland Park to East L.A. College, Mr. Gourdine then established a non-profit business called Athletes Inspired thru Mentors (A.I.M.) where we mentored athletes from Junior College through Division 1 to the professional ranks. Currently Mr. Gourdine is currently licensed as a life insurance agent through Aflac.
